Some trees have to go. A red oak that died over one summer, an ash the borer got to, a big white pine leaning a little further toward the cottage every spring, or a maple standing right where the new pole barn is going. Larry works from the forestry bucket truck where the truck can get to the tree and climbs with rope and rigging where it cannot, which is most of the tight lake lots. Limbs get lowered on ropes, not dropped on the deck. Brush goes through the chipper, and the trunk wood goes out in the dump truck or gets bucked into rounds and left for your wood pile, whichever you want.

How much does tree removal cost around Hale?
Most removals in our area land somewhere between $250 and $4,500. Height, how close the tree is to a structure, and whether the bucket truck can reach it drive the number more than the species does. A small dead tree in an open yard is at the low end; a tall pine over a cottage roof with no truck access is at the top. Every job is priced on site or from your photos, in writing, before we start. Do I need to call Consumers Energy before you remove a tree near the power line?
If the tree is touching or hanging over the service drop, the line from the pole to your house, that line is the homeowner's responsibility, and we ask Consumers Energy for a temporary disconnect at 800-477-5050 before we work on it. We can make that call with you. Trees in the primary lines along the road belong to the utility, and we will tell you when that is the case.
Can you take down a tree that is between two cottages?
Yes. That is most of the lake work we do. The tree comes down in sections from the bucket or on a climb, each piece is roped and lowered, and the chipper stays out on the drive. Send a photo of the gap and we will tell you how we would do it.
What happens to the wood?
Your choice. We can haul everything away, chip the brush and leave the trunk bucked into rounds for your wood pile, or leave it all for you to deal with. Tell us when you get the estimate and it is priced that way. If it is an oak that died of oak wilt, the wood should stay on your property and be burned or covered, not moved.
