The wood we sell is the wood we cut. Trees that come down on jobs around Hale, Lupton and the lakes get bucked into rounds, split, and stacked to season. Mostly oak, maple, ash and beech, the hardwoods that hold heat in a stove through a January night. It is local wood sold locally, which is what the Don't Move Firewood campaign asks for: burn firewood within about 10 miles of where it grew so borers, oak wilt and the rest do not hitch a ride to a new woods.

Reinhardt Tree Service sells seasoned hardwood by the face cord, delivered in the dump truck within about 20 miles of Lupton or picked up. Delivered means dumped in a pile where the truck can reach; stacking is available on request and priced when you order. We sell fall through winter while the pile lasts, so order early if you heat with wood.

One face cord is 4 feet high by 8 feet long by about 16 inches deep, roughly a third of a full cord. If someone quotes you a price per cord, ask which one they mean.

Firewood questions

What is a face cord, and how is it different from a full cord?

A face cord is a stack 4 feet high by 8 feet long by one stick deep, about 16 inches. A full cord is 4 by 8 by 4 feet, so three face cords roughly make a full cord. Our price is per face cord. If you see a cheaper cord price somewhere, make sure you are comparing the same stack.

How much is firewood delivered?

$95 per face cord delivered within about 20 miles of Lupton, or $85 if you pick it up. Stacking is extra and priced when you order. Beyond 20 miles, ask and we will quote the delivery.

Is it really seasoned?

Yes. Split hardwood that has sat stacked through at least one summer, dry enough to light easily and burn clean in a stove. Oak takes longer than maple or ash to dry, and we hold it longer. If a load ever hisses and smokes in your stove, call us.

Why do you only deliver within about 20 miles?

Two reasons. Diesel and time: a face cord is not worth a two-hour round trip for either of us. And the wood itself: the state's Don't Move Firewood guidance is to burn wood close to where it was cut, within about 10 miles where you can, because hauling it farther is how emerald ash borer, oak wilt and other pests reach new woods. Our wood comes from jobs in the same townships we deliver to. If you are on the edge of the range, call and ask.
