Larry Reinhardt runs Reinhardt Tree Service LLC. He prices the job, he is on site while it is being done, and most days he is the one in the bucket. There is no salesperson, no dispatcher and no call center: the number on this site is his.

That is the whole business model. In a market where half the tree companies are one truck and a Facebook page and the other half are out-of-town lead brokers with an 855 number, being local, reachable and accountable is the product.

The crew

A removal near a house is not a one-person job. On bigger jobs there is a ground crew running ropes, the chipper and the rakes while the bucket works overhead, all in hard hats, hearing protection and hi-vis. Nobody freelances around a loaded tree.

We work by MIOSHA Part 53 and ANSI Z133 practice: trained before assignment, saddle and rope when aloft, and a plan for getting somebody down if they get hurt. That is not a certificate, it is how the work gets done.

The fleet

Equipment is most of what decides whether a tree can come down safely and what it costs. Here is exactly what we run, no more and no less.

• Forestry bucket truck with a chip-box body, our main tool on tall removals
• Tow-behind wood chipper for brush, on site, so nothing gets left in the yard
• Ford Super Duty dump truck for logs, rounds and debris
• Dump trailer for smaller loads and firewood delivery
• Compact tractor with a front-end loader for moving wood off soft ground
• Climbing gear: spurs, saddle, rigging rope and blocks for trees the truck cannot reach
• Stihl chainsaws and a pole saw, plus cones and signage for roadside work

We do not own a crane or a grapple truck, and we will tell you when a job needs one.

Michigan does not license tree services, so nobody in this state is a "licensed arborist" by law and you should be suspicious of anyone who says they are. How far we go

About 35 miles from Lupton in every direction: Hale and the lakes, Tawas City and East Tawas, Oscoda, West Branch, Rose City, Whittemore, Sand Lake and out toward Glennie, Prescott, Au Gres, Standish, Mio and Harrisville. Past 25 miles a travel line shows up on the estimate, and it is always its own line, never buried in the price.
